Having 2 older kids, I thought I've seen it all. Jourdan and Meg never had an imagination like Zack has. This isn't something that Zack only does a couple hours a day. This something that he does every day all day. When I go to the grocery store, Zack goes to the grocery store to buy supplies for the firehouse. No matter what we're doing, Zack contributes what were doing to his imaginary life.
I tried to look up on the Internet about kids and imagination, but nothing really came up. All it said was it was healthy for kids to have an imagination.
How much imagination is normal?

Ha ha, I think it's a riot. When I was a kid I had an imaginary friend who I played with ALL DAY. Cameron had a friend named Rudolph after Christmass for a while, yes he was a reindeer and went everywhere with us. If there wasn't room in the car he'd have to go outside with us. Strange how their minds work. I say unless it interfears with "real" life, than it's fine. If he has to stop going to family outings because there is a fire somewhere, maybe time to look into things. :) Imagination is a wonderful thing
PS Don't forget, the Brooklyn story. We were in SAMs when she broke into tears because "Troy" didn't like her, he was in love with Gabriella and wouldn't be her friend anymore. TEARS. She was about 3.
Where did he come up with the names Violet and Vivienne? I LOVE it. Maddie had quite an imaginary school at one time, but I love the family life. Too funny.
I agree with Susie - I wouldn't worry if it isn't interfering with "real life." Lots of kids go through imaginary friend phases and I've never heard there is anything wrong with that. But if it really concerns you then there is no harm in talking with his doctor about it.
