The skunk was tying his hardest to get under our porch again. We are starting to wonder if possibly we have baby skunks under our deck and that's why he/she wants under there so bad. We don't leave food out etc... We called the Wildlife Control for the county and they said they could put a trap out tomorrow, but once we trap the skunk, we will have to kill it ourselves and then dispose of him ourselves. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! So, I have an official with the city wildlife program coming by tomorrow to see what he can do with this little problem we have. It's really getting old.
I want to move back to Texas. Do they have skunks in San Antonio?
The Story -
We have a smelly situation on our hands. Last night we let our dog, River, out in the backyard before bed. Hiding under the deck was a skunk. We had no idea he got sprayed until we let him in the house. As soon as he came in the house, you could smell it. It was like nothing I have ever experienced before. It was beyond awful. It was so overpowering as if we had been tear gased. Poor Dennis was about throwing up from the smell. We had all the windows and doors open and nothing helped. We put River downstairs until we could figure out what to do.
Today, we have tried all the home remedies to get the stink out of the house. We've covered River in tomato juice, spaghetti sauce ( don't ask), and other potions. River still smells - BAD. The house smells better but we can still imagine the odor.
Early today, Dennis and Zack were outside hosing off the deck and out of the corner of his eye he saw something black coming out from under the deck. Dennis first assumption was it was River. In an instance he realized it was the skunk again. He was hiding out under our deck all night. Just as quick as the dog was sprayed by the skunk, the skunk got sprayed by the hose. Tail up and running out toward the open gate. The pest was gone.
Tomorrow is the first day of school. Hopefully, the kids don't go to school smelling.
Rinsing off the Tomato Juice. Thank goodness for Zack's toy gas mask
Zack is pretty grossed out
Poor River doesn't like being stuck outside.
The next two pictures just made me laugh

OH NO!!! That's stinky! Literally! I can only imagine. Good luck tomorrow. :)
How awful. Poor River - their noses are so much more sensitive than ours...
My dog was sprayed a few years ago - I took him to the vet and whatever they did worked pretty well.
Oh no! I'm so sorry. I do have to say, we do have skunks here too. I was terrified once when I was walking in the morning cause there was one right in front of me. I just froze until he left. Poor pup, poor you. Good luck! How was the first day of school?
That is so awful! Funny, for me, but Terrible!! That skunk has to go!!
Ugh! I just read this with the update! Can you trap it and then relocate it somewhere FAR away from your house? I used to see people do that with bunnies in Colorado. Maybe borrow a pickup truck for the relo?
